UGA Cellular Biology is proud to present Dr. Manuel Fierro.

Dr. Fierro's research focused on understanding the role that ER-resident proteins play in the process of egress of malaria parasites. He has found that a Ca2+-binding protein in the ER called PfERC regulates the proteolytic cascade required for membrane degradation during egress of P. falciparum.
